The Situation:
Originally built in the 1880s, the Borders Learning Center houses two classrooms and a fully equipped art studio on the first floor, and the window-filled second floor houses faculty offices for the rhetoric and communications, sociology and theology departments, as well as the Writing Center.

Cori managed the 16,000 square-foot renovation including a new roof, updated heating and air conditioning, electrical and Internet cabling equipment, and the addition of an elevator for increased accessibility. Sidewalks and walkways near the building were also updated, creating safer access from Pangborn Residence Hall and Bradley Hall. The exterior was also improved by adding a new cupola, bronzed seal, consistent stone veneers, and by transforming a loading dock into a student porch— all of which enhance the building’s architectural appeal.
The Result:
The final stonework is a match and the craftsmanship of the entire project is unparalleled. The project was completed for $1.75 million.
Houston Technology Center

The Situation:
The center serves as an incubator for creating new-edge technologies within the aerospace, energy, telecommunications, transportation, and bio-healthcare industries.
Corinne Cheairs’ Role:

Cori managed the construction of the 26,000-square-foot, $2 million center. This was a particularly demanding project because the original general contractor went bankrupt during the construction phase. Cori helped select a new firm, managed the transition, and oversaw and coordinated corrections to the previous general contractor’s faulty work.
The Result:
The state agency was pleased with Cori’s efforts in assisting with the completion of the project with the bond company.
